The new model features a five-speed automatic transmission option for the first time and electric sliding rear doors.
The MZR 2.0-litre in the Mazda5 petrol models has been revised and according to Mazda, every model in the 2008 upgrade line-up will deliver improved fuel consumption and CO2 levels which are lowered by between 8g/km and 11g/km. All manual models will be come with a six-speed gearbox.
Exterior changes includes new front and rear bumpers, new front and rear light clusters, new front grille, new 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels, and a choice of seven new exterior colours.
Interior additions include a new DVD navigation system with a 7-inch multifunctional touch screen integrated into the centre panel, six-CD changer and Bluetooth mobile phone system with steering wheel mounted controls.
Mazda has also got on board with the mobile music generation with the addition of an auxiliary jack for MP3 players.
The upgraded Mazda5 will make its European debut at the Bologna Motor Show, in Italy, on December 5 and will go on sale in UK Mazda dealer showrooms during January. Priced will be announced closer to launch.
