Lexus's flagship hybrid model, the LS 600h, is now officially on sale with prices starting at £81,400.

Lexus GB says demand is very high and order leadtimes are now extending into next spring.

The company confirmed orders for 230 cars to date of which over 60% are for the top of the range LS 600h L (long wheel base) with rear seat relaxation package.

The LS 600h features an all-wheel drive full hybrid V8 engine, combining a 5.0-litre engine with an electric motor. The engine pushes the hybrid model from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds. Lexus says the LS 600h will return 30.4mpg and 219g/km of carbon dioxide emissions, which puts it in the second most expensive vehicle tax band F with models like the Land Rover Freelander and Toyota RAV4.
