The dealership has been without an all-makes parts capability for several years, but recently decided to re-introduce an offering alongside its original equipment parts business.
Under the XPart All-Makes scheme, Marshall Motor Group will have access to more than 32,000 parts covering all of the main product groups such as brakes, rotating electrics, filters and exhausts.
Marshall invested £40,000 to buy the initial stock of around 2,000 product lines. This gives the company more than 90% coverage on fast moving parts of the vehicle parc and with access to a further 30,000 parts from the comprehensive XPart range which can be supplied to Marshall Motor Group overnight.
“With revenues from vehicle servicing falling as a result of longer service intervals and improved vehicle quality, we were keen to introduce a new revenue stream which would help offset this decline,” said Roger Sizer, general parts manager at Marshalls.
“By reviving our all-makes capability to run alongside our OE parts business, we will be able to provide local independent garages with all of their vehicle parts, from a single, trusted source,” he added.
The company will be explaining full details of the new service during a trade night which will be held on February 22.
“Although we distribute OE parts to more than 500 garages in the region, competition for all-makes parts is much tougher with customers generally unwilling to wait longer than a few hours for deliveries.
“As a result, we are offering this service to fewer independent garages meaning that we will be able to ensure a consistently high level of service,” said Sizer.
