Wales has emerged as the most successful UK region for new registrations in August, with a 2.25% rise on the same period last year.
Note: Channel Islands & Isle of Man new car registrations not included.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders showed England was -7.06% down, Northern Ireland was down -1.71% and Scottish registrations were down 2.25% in compared to August 2005.
