To qualify it invested in new signage, diagnostic equipment and more than 200 tools.
“The reception staff and technicians had to undergo an initial training course in order to bring us up to speed with the new brands,” explains Ashley Cooper, general sales manager at Mercedes-Benz of Scarborough. “But, of course, the training will be ongoing.”
The dealership already repairs cars of all marques but it can now offer a full aftersales service, including servicing, repair and warranty work, for the Chrysler group brands, in addition to its Mercedes-Benz and Smart aftersales service.
“The new marques should bring in an additional £100,000 for our Scarborough dealership,” says Richard Jackson, chairman of the Mercedes-Benz North Yorkshire group. The outlet is scheduled to turn over £15m. In due course, it will also stock used cars from the Chrysler brands.
Jackson is also considering authorized repairer status at his sites at Harrogate and York. “We’ll just see how it goes with the new marques,” he says.
