BMW UK’s new sales director will be Sytner senior executive Tim Abbott.

Abbott is currently working out his notice with the AM100 dealer group, where he is managing director of its DaimlerChrysler division. BMW says no start date has been finalized but Abbott is expected to join within a few months.

BMW UK managing director Jim O’Donnell has overseen the sales operation since his last sales director, Graham Grieve, moved to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars late last year. Grieve heads the luxury carmaker’s sales and marketing team.

Abbott has been with Sytner since 2004, when it bought Aston Green, a group of five Audi dealerships, which he co-founded with Steve Green.
