Volkswagen Group UK has opened a new 30,000 sq ft training facility in Nottingham in partnership with Carter & Carter Group.

It will be used as the group’s Apprentice Training Centre, training around 1,000 Volkswagen Group apprentices each year.

Meanwhile the VW board in Germany this week voted to extend chief executive Bernd Pischetsrieder’s contract until 2012, ending media speculation over his future.
