Lexus has unveiled its new LS 600h at the New York International Auto Show today, with the world’s first full hybrid V8 engine.

The Lexus Hybrid Drive system in the LS 600h is a further development of the technology already used in the RX 400h and GS 450h. It combines an all-new 5.0-litre 430bhp V8 petrol engine with electric motors and a new large capacity battery pack.

European sales are scheduled to start in June 2007.
