Recruitment of senior management has continued at Hyundai Motor UK following the appointment of former Toyota operations director Tony Whitehorn as managing director.

The latest additions are Guy Pigounakis as sales director, and Janet Burr, who becomes head of human resources on February 1. Pigounakis previously worked at MG Rover, where he was director of franchising. Burr’ was head of HR at Volvo Car UK.

“We are sure Guy will be up to the challenge of delivering on our volume and franchise profitability aspirations in an increasingly challenging market place,” says Whitehorn. “And Janet’s knowledge and specialist skills will be invaluable to the already very professional HR function at HMUK.”

HMUK became part of the global Hyundai operation last summer when the Korean car manufacturer took over sales and distribution for the UK market from Hyundai Cars UK, a subsidiary of RAC plc.

Finance director Ray Pope transferred to HMUK at the time and acted as interim managing director.
