Ford has unveiled plans to cut half of its suppliers and sign long-term contracts with the rest in an attempt to keep a hold on increasing costs.
UK companies that could be affected include Pilkington, a major supplier of windows to Ford in Europe and South America and engineer GKN, according to newspaper, The Independent.
Tony Brown, Ford’s senior vice-president, said it was “too early to say” which suppliers would be ditched by the company.
