DaimlerChrysler is to cut 8,000 German jobs at its Mercedes brand, a newspaper reports.

The cuts rose by 5,000 after the company previously expected to lose 3,000 workers, according to the Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

News of the possible job losses at Mercedes come after Volkswagen announced it would be keeping production of its new Marrakesh SUV in Germany, creating 1,000 jobs.
