Smart drivers will pay lower insurance premiums following a reduction in Fortwo insurance groups by the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

The reduction in insurance groups has enabled Smart to offer younger buyers of new Smart cars the chance to have free insurance. The entry level Fortwo pure has free insurance for one year for 18-year-olds.

Forfour customers get free insurance for drivers over the age of 21 for the first time on certain models.
