Audi has announced more details about its new SUV model, the Q7.

Available to order from September 12 and on the sale in the UK from early 2006, the Q7 3.0 TDI in Germany will be priced at €48,900 (£33,249).

The seven-seater comes with a choice of two six-speed tiptronic engines from launch: a 4.2-litre V8 350bhp with FSI petrol direct injection and a 3.0 TDI 233bhp six-cylinder engine, which features a common rail injection system.

The Q7 is equipped as standard with quattro permanent four-wheel drive.

18-inch light alloy wheels are fitted as standard, with optional 19-inch or 20-inch wheels. Also available on request is adaptive air suspension.

On board the performance SUV a number of innovative driver assistance systems are available on request. These include side assist with radar technology for lane-changing manoeuvres and a parking system with optical/acoustic guidance and rear-view camera.

The Q7 ESP includes new functions such as hill descent assist, an off-road mode which optimises brake performance and traction on loose surfaces and a trailer stabilisation system.
