Available to order now, the third generation Clio will be launched in the three-door version first which previously accounted for 75% of UK Clio sales, while the five-door will follow in January 2006.
The new Clio 111 is available with hands-free unlocking and ignition keycard and tyre pressure monitoring.
It will be available in four trim versions from launch, Extreme, Expression, Dynamique and Dynamique S.
Some of the features first introduced on the Modus, such as cornering headlights, are also available on the Clio, as well the 1.5 dCi 106 engine with a six speed gearbox.
Prices start from £8,895 for the Extreme 1.2 16V 75, rising to £12,650 for the Dynamique S 1.5 dCi 106 six speed.
The Clio 111 will launch with a choice of three petrol engines, the 1.2 16V 75, the 1.4 16V 98 and the 1.6 VVT 111. Renault’s 1.5 dCi engine will come in three versions; the 1.5 dCi 68, 1.5 dCi 86 and the 1.5 dCi 106.
Renault said it expects the most popular trim to be the Dynamique with the mid range 1.4 98hp engine.
Standard equipment includes variable assisted power steering, electric windows, radio CD with remote control, multi-function trip computer, internally adjustable door mirrors with driver’s blind spot eliminating mirror and air recirculation, tinted windows, double optic headlamps, additional 12V power supply and body coloured bumper inserts.
The new model comes in a choice of 12 colours, with nine metallic on offer including a new colour, Volcano.
Safety features include a five star Euro NCAP rating, six airbags including driver and front passenger auto adaptive airbags, front lateral airbags and anti-submarining airbags in the seat base. Curtain airbags are also standard on all but the entry level Extreme.
In addition ABS with EBD (electronic brake distribution), brake assist, optional ESP (electronic stability programme), two height adjustable three-point front seatbelts with integrated pretensioners and load limiters, three-point rear seatbelts with integrated pretensioners and load limiters on the outer rear seats all come as standard.
Remote central locking with deadlocking, RAID (Renault anti-intruder device) automatic door locking which locks the doors as soon as the car goes over 5mph, anti-drill door locks and locking fuel filler cap and an insurance approved engine immobiliser are also all included as standard.
