Kia Motors UK is contacting 6,000 Sedona customers to replace wheel bearings and oil pump strainers.

With the 5,642 Sedonas built between June and October of 2004 there is a possibility of premature wearing of the rear wheel bearing.

In a small number of cases reported in the United States the rear wheel bearing cap has not been tightly sealed, allowing moisture to accumulate in the rear wheel bearing. There have been no reported cases in the UK.

Dealers will carry out a simple procedure where modified rear wheel bearing caps would be fitted and any worn bearings replaced.

“An additional 446 vehicles may be affected by the fitting of an incorrect oil pump strainer during production in July and August of 2004 that could, in extreme cases, restrict the supply of oil to the vehicle’s engine. No instances have been reported in the UK but dealers will replace the existing oil strainer,” a Kia spokesman said.

There will be no charge for the remedial work.
