BMW has confirmed 200 new jobs in the UK as part of a £100m injection into its Oxford Mini plant.

Today's announcement by BMW is expected to see a substantial increase in production capacity to 200,000 cars from 2007 at the Oxford plant, the only factory in the world which manufacturers the Mini.

Production of Minis started in 2001 and 4,500 people work at Plant Oxford, in which BMW has invested £280m to date. Last year the factory, located in the Cowley area of Oxford, produced more than 189,000 cars.
