Motor parts wholesaling chain Maccess has cleared up confusion caused by an ICC Credit statement that the £61m turnover business is in administration.

The ICC report described Maccess as a “key casualty in the motor vehicle accessory and parts industry”. However, it failed to mention that the Maccess operation and business, owned by International Automotive Distributors (IAD), was unaffected.

IAD says the companies in administration are takeover vehicles from its acquisition of Maccess’s business and assets earlier this year. IAD also recently bought the business and assets of ADS from Unipart Automotive. Both continue to operate under the trading name of Maccess from 15 branches nationwide.

In a statement, IAD says: “The appointment of an administrator for three companies, Maccess Holdings Ltd, Maccess Group Ltd and Maccess Ltd, in no way affects the operation of the Maccess business or suppliers to IAD.”

Maccess customers include car accessory shops, plus some motor factors, workshops and dealers. IAD managing director Douglas Waddell this year appointed David Sussex as sales and marketing director to make Maccess “the sensible choice of supplier” for automotive businesses.
