The Duke of Gloucester has resigned as president of the Institute of Advanced Motorists after being banned from driving for speeding in December.
The Duke had accumulated 12 penalty points after four speeding convictions in three years.
John Maxwell, IAM’s chairman said the Duke’s decision had been received with ‘great regret given his effective and enthusiastic presidency over 32 years’.
The Duke admitted the latest offence – at Thorney, Cambridgeshire, in August – when he was caught travelling at 70mph on a road with a 60mph speed limit.
