Emtec Specialised Services, the technical training subsidiary of the motor retail and aftersales training and consultancy firm Carter & Carter, has acquired the technical services operation of the AA.

The AA operation provides technical training for a number of manufacturers. It includes a training centre in Leicestershire and has more than 100 staff.

Carter & Carter did not reveal the cost of the acquisition, which is being funded by debt. Carter & Carter acquired Emtec in 2003, and it now accounts for about half its turnover, according to the FT.
