Tony Blair has given support to MG Rover's proposed joint venture with China's biggest carmaker.
Tony Woodley, general secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union, revealed yesterday that the Prime Minister had written to the Chinese government in support of the deal with the state-owned Shanghai Automotive Industries Corporation (SAIC).
He said the letter had been personally delivered by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott during a recent visit to China.
