Nissan claims to be, “faster than a hungry greyhound after a rabbit when it comes to design advancements”. And the latest product to come out of Nissan in Japan has been designed to mate car and dog.

The Japanese now own over 11 million dogs. Nissan’s new range of in-car pet carriers prevents the seats being reupholstered in Labrador and your interior smelling like one. It also stops pets from becoming a canine cannonball in the event of an accident.

The Nissan press release on this doggy bag says: “The pet carrier comes in two sizes and is attached to the rear seat with a seat belt. It’s open topped allowing for free flowing conversation between you and your pet. Plus, importantly for health conscious Japan, it has an anti-bacterial, deodorant cover. Nissan’s carrier folds up for storage in the boot or it can double up as a pooch basket for the home. Prices start at 12,600 yen (£63) for the small version and up to 15,750 yen (£80) for the large.”

The basket is currently unavailable in the UK.
