Nissan has announced that prices for the new Primera range will start from £14,600 for the 1.8S. Until its September release date Nissan is offering the S from £13,995 including some added options.

Options include 16" alloy wheels and a colour rear view parking camera. For another £650 over the price of the regular £14,600 Primera S, Nissan has introduced a new SX version. It too has a colour rear view camera but adds 17" alloy wheels, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, auto dim rear view mirror and a 6CD autochanger. Like the S, three engines are offered including the recently introduced 136bhp dCi. The saloon version will no longer be on sale in the UK.

The Primera SE, which goes up in price by £50 gains DVD satellite navigation with Traffic Management Control function. As well as cruise control and colour rear view camera. The standard sunroof option has now been removed.

The SVE has also gone up in price by £250. Electrically adjustable heated leather seats have been added as well as xenon headlights with wash function, a colour rear view camera, cruise control and a 6CD autochanger.

The T-spec gains a colour rear view camera and tyre pressure monitor, in addition to the cruise control of the 2.0-litre, metallic paint and electronic stability programme of both engines. The 2.0-litre is now only offered with Nissan’s M-CVT automatic transmission for £20,150. Or for the same price, the 136bhp dCi is available.

A Nissan spokesperson said, “We did try to accommodate a kitchenette with integrated hob but the legal department raised objections. Cooking is not conducive to safe driving, apparently.”
