A new AA training centre based in Leicestershire has been officially opened by Roger Wood, AA managing director.

The AA Academy at Six Hills, which was officially opened on Friday July 16, will be the main UK site for AA technical training, and replaces the previous centre which was situated seven miles away at Widmerpool, Nottinghamshire, which closed in April.

The new site is part of the development of the AA Academy, which aims to provide the best technical training for the motor industry.

Six Hills will specialise in technical training for both motor manufacturers and AA employees including patrols. AA Training Services provides training to major motor manufacturers including Volkswagen Group, Peugeot and Citroen.

Twenty AA staff are employed at the two-building campus at Six Hills, and up to 125 people can be trained on the site at one time. Facilities include 13 classrooms and nine workshops.
