Peugeot’s newly launched 407 has achieved a 5-star score in the latest round of Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) crash tests.

The new Peugeot 407 achieved a coveted five stars for occupant protection and 4 stars for child protection. However, it only scored two stars for pedestrian protection.

The new Volkswagen Golf also received the maximum five stars for occupant protection in the frontal and side impact tests. Out of the twelve cars tested in the spring, the new Golf was the only vehicle to receive four stars for child protection as well as three stars for the protection of pedestrians.

The Golf was awarded a total of 12 stars, which no other vehicle achieved. Volkswagen says: “This is due to the extremely rigid passenger compartment and the effective restraint systems”.
