German trade paper Autohaus reports that some manufacturers, including BMW, Audi and VW have ceased to offer manufacturer warranties following changes to German product liability law.

Instead, they are advising customers to apply for remedies through the legal system in the event of any failures, in which case they indicate customers will find the manufacturers' approach accommodating. The German retail motor industry trade association ZDK has appealed to manufacturers to resume the supply of warranties with new vehicles, to protect dealers from exposure to costs involved in handling customers' complaints without recourse to warranty claims.
