Development of Mazda’s dealer network is set to continue with the objective of filling 25 open points within the next two years.

At present, the importer has 150 outlets, but this is expected to rise to 167 by the end of 2005, and total 175 a year later. David McGonigle, the company’s fleet and remarketing director, says it also hopes to add further dealers to its 10-strong fleet dealer group next summer. A manager of its fleet specialist dealer programme is due to be appointed in January to oversee this.

McGonigle says the business is counting on its renewed model range and strong sales to attract new franchises with owner-driven businesses and small dealer groups.

“Our brand awareness in the corporate sector has been growing daily and that has resulted in tremendous sales success,” says McGonigle.

New products coming in the next two years include the Mazda5 MPV, Mazda6 MPS sports saloon and MX-5 replacement, and the Mazda6 saloon will receive a facelift in mid-2005.
