John Kiff, a director of the International Car Distribution Programme (ICDP) and his brother Robert have entered LE JOG rally in their 1959 VW Beetle Okrasa.

Their aim is not only to repeat their Gold Medal success of last year but also to raise funds for BEN, the motor and allied trades benevolent fund.

The 1,500 mile long event, one of the longest and toughest historic rallies in the world, will see them set out from Land’s End on December 4 and finish at John o’Groat’s on December 7.

Historic rally experts from around the world will be joining the field of over 70 cars. John and Rob are asking readers to sponsor them on a ‘pence-per-mile’ basis via BEN’s website www.ben.org.uk.

With the average speed allowed on the public roads no more than 30 mph competitors will be faced with skills challenges on the route, such as maintaining a given average speed on certain sections, tests on private ground involving manoeuvrability and handling skills and night-time navigation.

Only those who perform consistently throughout can win one of the coveted gold medals and only 19 of these have been awarded in the 10 years that the event has run.
