Solihull-based electrical components distributor Lucas SRE Ltd has been placed in administration.

Accountants Grant Thornton has been appointed administrators.

The company distributes Lucas and Sovereign-branded rotating electrical components, alternators and bulbs to trade customers and was established after TRW, which had acquired Lucas’ automotive electrics business, pulled out of the automotive aftermarket.

Paul Melville, of Grant Thornton’s specialist recovery and reorganisation team said: "We will continue to trade the business whilst we seek a purchaser of the business as a going concern. The company has 45 employees and there is no intention to make anyone redundant at this time."
