John Squires, chairman of Benfield Motor Group, has been awarded an OBE for his services to community.

A former chairman of Newcastle Diocesan Board of Finance, Squires is a lay cannon of Newcastle Cathedral, a deputy lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, board member of North Music Trust and vice-president of the Community Foundation.
