The European carmakers' association ACEA says UK car prices are now among the lowest in Europe, with 20 out of 71 models cheaper here than anywhere else.

Overall the UK is ranked with Denmark, Finland and Greece as the cheapest place to buy a car.

The ACEA attributes the change – the UK was previously among the most expensive for 60 per cent of vehicles – to the stronger Euro, which is driving price convergence.
