DaimlerChrysler UK's plans for a technology showcase at Brooklands is a step closer to completion. Elmbridge Borough Council has given the company local outline planning persmission for a Mercedes-Benz Heritage and Technology Centre.

The plan is for a showcase for Mercedes-Benz cars commemorating the history of the marque and its association with Brooklands on a 150-acre site in Surrey with display galleries, a technology centre, theatre, visitor, education and hospitality facilities open to the public.

It is due to be built next to the Brooklands Museum and racing circuit.

DaimlerChrysler UK's plan will now be considered by the Government Office of the South East.
