DaimlerChrysler is establishing a new £52.6m technology centre for vans at its Stuttgart-Untertürkheim plant. The new plant, which will employ 1000, will take over responsibility for van design functions from the end of 2004.

The VTC represents a key element in the drive to strengthen our market leadership in western Europe and open up new markets."
