The MVRA has sown confusion over the recent Good Garage Scheme 'agreement' signed between the RMI, SMTA, OFT and DTI.

The MVRA believes that the 'Good Garage' scheme have quietly been dropped and replaced by an alternative scheme based on revised OFT Codes of Practice – and it was this scheme that has been agreed.

Mike Monaghan, MVRA Managing Director says, "Much of the work necessary for the Code of Practice was already in place at MVRA. We will shortly be asking members to complete and sign a declaration in which they agree to fulfil the obligations placed on them under MVRA's existing Code of Practice together with the additional requirements of the OFT's new Code.

“Given that all of our members are already operating under our high standards we do not expect MVRA members to find it difficult to comply with these additional commitments to consumers."
