Fiat in India could face a $96m excise bill for allegedly underpricing the Uno in order to boost sales in the country.
The Indian Excise Department ruling has been upheld by the excise commissioner (appeals) in Mumbai. The company has now appealed to the Customs, Excise and Gold Appellate Tribunal.
If it loses before CEGAT, its only alternative would be to approach the Supreme Court.
