ScootElectric, the UK concessionaire for three of the world's leading players in the fast-developing market for zero emission personal transport, is targeting city centre dealers for its electric scooter franchise.

The battery-powered 50cc equivalent scooters are exempt from road tax and congestion charges, and qualify for a £200 rebate, payable through the Government's Power-shift initiative direct. Branded Swap and costing from £1599, the far-East sourced machines have a range of up to 30 miles, can cruise at 25mph and are 'fuelled' by plugging them into a household socket.

“The timing couldn't have been better,” says Trevor Dodwell, managing director of Colchester-based ScootElectric, and a former director of HR Owen. “Gridlocked streets, rising fuel costs and the prospect of UK-wide congestion charging.”

Dodwell's team includes Malcolm Rash, ex-European Car Rental, former MCL director Malcolm Montgomery, and Tony Cheverall, one of the founders of AM.
