A new survey of 100 dealers has delivered fresh evidence of the diesel price premium as a result of the boosted market demand for oilburners.p> In the Vehicle Remarketing Solutions survey, 80 per cent of dealers surveyed say that strong retail demand is creating a diesel premium.

The survey – which quizzed dealers from all corners of the UK – also revealed regional differences, with rural areas and Northern Ireland showing stronger demand for diesels. Research also showed larger engine and higher specification oilburners proved desirable to retail customers.

Jacqui Le Put, VRS sales and marketing director says: " Diesels are becoming increasingly popular with retail customers as well as the company car drivers. The new engines are quieter and have better performance than ever before. These factors along with rising petrol costs will continue to boost demand for diesel vehicles."
