Ford Motor Co. is cutting its information technology budget by $300m as part of it s ongoing restructuring process.

The cut represents about 20 percent of the department's $1.5 billion annual budget, according to a report in today's Detroit News.

An unnamed company spokesman has suggested that up to 2,800 of Ford's information technology contract workers will lose their jobs.
