DaimlerChrysler said this afternoon that the UK was unaffected by a recall of more than half a million Chrysler Neons.

The recall notice was issued by DaimlerChrysler in the US for 2000 and 2001 model year vehicles in the States and Canada only.

Remedial action requires replacement of a brake booster vacuum hose after it was discovered that contact with oil can, over time, cause the hose to expand and loosen. The manufacturer says the brakes remain operational but need more pressure applied. It adds that there have been no reported injuries.
