Used car sales locator Auto Online has joined forces with On-Market.net to give industry buyers access to vehicle information from their mobile phone. On-Market was founded last year by Lindsay Levin, chairman of South-east dealer Whites Group.

The system works by matching a buyer's purchase requirements with those of vehicles that join the Auto Online database.

Information on any relevant vehicles can be sent instantly to the buyer in the form of an SMS (short message service). Kamal Bengougam, Auto Online chief executive officer, said: “SMS adds value to customers by providing them with information on the move.”

On-Market is developing SMS messaging and other mobile services for several of the UK's largest car sales websites.
