Tata has introduced high-specification Safari Access, a 780kg payload, 5-door van.

Safari Access is based on the Safari SUV and retains features like air conditioning, power assisted windows/steering/door mirrors and central locking.

In addition the vehicle comes with a stereo radio/cassette player, folding armrests, alloy wheels and is available in a choice of three metallic paint finishes at no extra cost.

The load carrying potential includes 20 sq. ft of floor space and 1.7 cu metres of load space. The load bed has metal runners and a half-height forward bulkhead and the rear side doors open to improve load access. A single side opening rear door is retained.

Tata's electrically controlled 4x4 system transfers drive from two to four-wheels on the move at the flick of a switch and the transmission is equipped with a further set of low gear ratios for dealing with rough terrain.

The power unit is a turbocharged intercooler four-cylinder diesel engine developing 90PS.

Rounding off the package is a three year/60,000 mile warranty, six year anti-perforation guarantee plus one year's free membership of Green Flag Roadside Recovery service.

The on-the-road price of the Safari Access Van, inclusive of £1,729.30 recoverable VAT, is £11,725.
