Ford Motor Company is understood to have made moves to prevent its deposed chief executive from being snapped up by a competitor.

The FT reports today that the company has inserted a lengthy "non-compete" clause in Mr Nasser's severance terms. Mr Nasser has been succeeded by William Clay Ford, who becomes chief executive and chairman.
