Goodyear has introduced a new tyre, which it claims is a "genuine milestone in modern tyre construction" - the GT3.

The tyre, which now leads Goodyear's S & T rated product range, particularly on OE fitments, will be phased in to replace its predecessor, the GT2.

Goodyear scientists have developed the Biotred filler, a starch derivative of corn, as an eco-friendly replacement for traditional compound reinforcements like silica and carbon black.

The tyre is designed to improve rolling resistance, wet braking and wet handling while reducing energy requirements during production.

The Biotred also features new tread technology, the 3D BIS (Block Interlocking System) increasing lateral blade stiffness giving better steering stability without compromising on grip.

The GT3 will have a price premium of 6% above the GT2.
