The specialist insurer has also set up a nationwide network of repairers who have access to parts for grey imports, speeding up the repair service.
Sandy Dunn, BDML Connect managing director, believes many potential import buyers are put off by problems finding insurance.
“Many motorists recognise the costs savings that can be obtained by using specialists to source grey and parallel imports,” he said.
“However, a recent MasterQuote poll of drivers revealed that 45% would not consider buying from abroad, even if they were saving substantial sums of money. One of the main reasons given was concerns about insurance.”
While many insurers are reluctant to insure grey imports and others increased premiums, BDML's repairer network enabled it to provide competitive quotes.
