Dealers attending AM online sister publication's Automotive Management breakfast briefing on the Competition Commission report called for immediate action to reduce prices and restore customer confidence - a plea rejected by carmakers.
Alan Pulham, National Franchised Dealers Association director, accused manufacturers of “going round in circles” and failing to take responsibility for pricing.
But Christopher Macgowan, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders chief executive, said carmakers could not see where there was scope for further price cuts and made it clear his organisation would make full use of the consultation period to challenge the Commission's findings.
