Dixon Motors has expanded its internet portfolio after taking a 50% stake in online motorcycle site Bikenet Motorcycles.
The dealer group, which earlier this year struck a deal to supply cars to the Direct Line website, hopes to take 10% of the UK motorcycle market through internet sales within three years.
The website, www.bikenet.com, will offer a range of new motorcycles, including Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki, news reviews, racing coverage and interviews with celebrity riders. Dixon claims it attracted some 109,000 visitors in the first month, selling more than 50 motorcycles.
