Job Advert for: Technical Support Team Manager
About the role
This is a brand new role brought in to support Pete Janes, our Technical Fleet Services Manager. It plays a key part in the vision he has for the overall technical team, heading into 2022 and beyond.
In essence, you will manage a team of circa 15 Technical Support Specialists, based across our offices in Sale, Solihull and Swindon, who to manage our vehicle downtime and handle associated complaints. They are a busy team with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, so face a steady stream of challenges.
Your remit is to provide them with the support and skills they need whilst ensuring we hit the agreed KPI’s and our customers are satisfied. From recruitment and onboarding to performance management and development, you will manage the complete employee lifecycle. You will also be responsible for overall team performance. Duties will include resource deployment, team motivation, monthly reporting and proactively identifying process improvements.
To be successful in the role, you will build lasting relationships with various key stakeholders, particularly the Technical Team Manager who manages the team who authorise repairs.
Salary range of £30-35,000 and you can be based in either our Solihull or Swindon offices.
This role is eligible for Hybrid working (up to 2 days working from home per week).
About you
We are looking for someone who has both the technical automotive background and the ability (not necessarily the experience) to manage a team. It’s also important that you can see the bigger picture. This means working closely with Pete as he looks to implement his vision whilst being pro-active in your continual search for improvements.
You may currently be a Maintenance/Senior Controller or maybe a Supervisor, so you will have the technical skills. Ideally you will have some management experience. If not, you will be a natural leader, able to delegate work and motivate a team.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone to progress within the sector, or move away from the tools and into our exciting industry. It’s a Monday to Friday role and you will find our offices inviting and friendly.
Key skills required:
- Technical experience gained in the Motor industry
- Supervisory or management experience ideally
- Natural delegation and leadership ability
- Excellent prioritising, planning and organisational skills
- A highly motivated and self-driven mind set
- Experienced in working to tight deadlines within customer environments
- Able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail
Application process
Applicants invited to the next stage will complete an online video screen. This way, you can tell us all about yourself, before we shortlist who to select for interview. You will be able to do this on your mobile phone, tablet or laptop 24/7, giving you complete flexibility. Full instructions and a Hints & Tips video will follow.
