Wingrove Motor Company, a family-operated dealership group with a 99-year history, has been acquired by AM100 giant Arnold Clark.
The Wallsend-based business, which operated four sites across the north east, was the region's largest family-owned motor business.
Founded in 1925 by Newcastle cattle auctioneer John Myers Dalkin, its operations included showrooms in Silverlink, North Tyneside, and Fenham, Newcastle, a body shop in Cramlington, and a prep centre near Shiremoor, North Tyneside.

As part of the deal, Wingrove’s Fenham site will close. However, all 97 staff members, including those from the closed site, have transferred to Arnold Clark which has assured customers that all services will continue as normal, albeit under its name.
Josh Parker, managing director at Wingrove Motor Company, expressed gratitude to staff and customers for their longstanding support. “I would like to personally thank all our loyal customers and dedicated staff that have supported us over the 99 years Wingrove has been in operation," said Parker.
“While the family have taken the decision to step away from the motor trade, we will be forever grateful for the people that have journeyed with us over the years. We wish all the staff and customers a smooth transition to Arnold Clark and are confident they will continue to enjoy outstanding deals and exceptional customer service.”
