Smart has revealed the pricing and specification for its new #1 electric vehicle (EV), with a choice of four trim levels starting from £35,950.
Entry-level Pro+, Premium and Launch Edition versions of the five-door crossover will be offered to customers alongside a £43,450 flagship Smart #1 Brabus developing 428PS and 584Nm and capable of 3.9 second acceleration to 62mph and a range of 248 miles.
The electric-powered five-door crossover, whose #1 name is pronounced “hashtag one”, is central to a relaunch of the Smart brand outlined in a recent AM profile interview with UK chief executive David Browne.
A “modest” showroom upgrade for Smart retail partners is also part of a new fully-electric direction for the brand which is now owned in a 50:50 partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Geely Automotive.
The Smart #1 will be the first new model developed under the partnership and Geely's EV-specific SEA platform delivers seating for five adults and a 421-litre boot.
Three non-Brabus #1 models are powered by a 272PS electric motor and a 62kWh battery, with 150kW DC rapid charging capability.
Entry-level Pro+ models cost from £35,950 on-the-road and come equipped with a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, Adaptive Cruise Control, heated seats, a 360-degree surround camera, intelligent voice assistance, LED lights and a powered tailgate.
The Pro+ delivers a WLTP range of 260 miles and has a 7.4kW on-board charger.
Premium trim cars offer a Beats sound system, a head-up instrument display, matrix LED headlights and automatic parking assistance and are priced from £38,950.
The Premium also delivers a WLTP range of 273 miles, achieved via the fitment of a silicon carbide invertor and heat pump and also features a 22kW on-board charger.
A Launch Edition, limited to just 100 UK examples, will be available from £39,450.
At the top of the range, the #1 Brabus features a range of design cues including more aggressive styling, bonnet vents, unique contrast paint and 19-inch wheels.
On the inside, an Alcantara steering wheel, microfibre suede seats and headrests with Brabus design stitching add to the sporty feel of the car alongside red seatbelts and metal pedals.
All Smart #1 models include are sold with a service plan for three years/30,000 miles, a high-voltage battery warranty covering eight years/125,000 miles, and roadside assistance for up to eight years/100,000 miles if the car is maintained at a Smart aftersales partner.
