It is an incredible sixth consecutive win of the Best Dealer Group of the Year (up to 10 sites) award by MG, Kia, Polestar and Volvo dealer group Waylands Automotive.

The AM Awards judges noted that it continues to raise its game from an already high bar.

Throughout 2023, under the leadership of chief executive John O'Hanlon and finance director James Smullen, Waylands remained committed to investing in various areas to enhance operations, particularly through internal improvements.

A significant focus was placed on digitalising reporting processes to streamline sales procedures, resulting in a 23% reduction in administrative time spent on deal files.

Piloting a new stock management system allowed it to enhance efficiency in vehicle preparation and visibility, and improved stock turn, leading to the entire group now aiming for 27% volume growth in 2024.

In terms of training, the Waylands academy expanded its offerings, doubling the number of courses conducted. Customised programmes for agency sales were developed, and all sales team members underwent re-induction before brand partner Volvo switched to agency in June 2023 to ensure optimal success.

The digital aspect also received significant attention, with continued growth in the digital team and expansion of digital sales apprenticeships and training.

This investment led to improved performance, with more than 96% of live chats on the website receiving responses from the team between 8am and 10pm.

Waylands’ belief in nurturing a strong culture that upholds high standards is reflected in its genuine focus on people.

Throughout 2023, investing in employees has been a priority, so that, as it develops its own talent pool, its standards can raise even further.

It has already filled 90% of management positions through internal promotions, fostering career growth within the company, and 98% of employees recommend Waylands as a great place to work based on its bi-annual survey.

The award was sponsored by Warranty Administration Services.
