The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Trading Standards are investigating how Vauxhall has handled fires involving the Zafira 'B' people carrier.
Vauxhall bosses have told MPs that the brand became aware of a fire fault in the Zafira B back in 2009, admitting that it was “fortunate” no one has been seriously injured since.
The Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has upgraded Vauxhall's voluntary recall of Zafira B cars to a safety recall following fires in some vehicles.
Vauxhall has said its Zafira B models could be catching fire due to “improper repair” of the vehicle’s heating and ventilation system.
